Who'd have thought that the Demo Of The Week would become a social lubricant, much like beer? On Saturday night, I went to a Cavalier Records showcase and recognised two faces from a recent cd sent to Half A Cow by a Melbourne band called The Wellingtons. "Hi Zac! Hi Kate!" I said to the couple standing at the bar. "I've had your demo sitting on my desk now for quite some time and that's how I know who you are. I was going to make you Demo Of The Week (yes, I even had italics in my speech) a few months ago but I was in the middle of moving down here to Melbourne and then I read somewhere that Reverberation was releasing you, which sort of made all this a bit redundant." I went onto say that it was only last week that it dawned on me that Zak and Kate were in an early DOTW with another full-on pop band, Sarah Sarah.candylane
