|I can't say that I have an interesting story to go with co-winners, Sydney band Sugarhit. Don't know them at all and even thought it was a girl singing the first few times I played it (actually, it wasn't until looking at their website that I realised it's a bunch of very clever guys living out their pop dreams). What I can say is that the Sugarhit mini-album Takin' For A Ride isn't a demo -it's a proper release (it even has a barcode) and is downright excellent, especially the tracks 'We Go Round' and 'Wherever We Want' - they have HIT emblazoned all over them. Incredibly catchy, infectious, sugar-filled (like their name) pop. Both Sugarhit and The Wellingtons cds arrived around the same earlier this year so I decided I was going to do a Sydney versus Melbourne! Who's more bubblegum! It's A Tie! DOTW. And here it is. True pop will never die. Kurt really did. The kids are singing high and happy. And here's the proof. The Wellingtons and Sugarhit take the cake.|
