Richard Easton
Interview! Nic chats with Richard, July 2023
*****
With a musical output that gained underground and critical acclaim, singer/songwriter Richard Easton has long flown under the radar of the Australian music scene. Hailed in 2001 by the Music Critics Association as an emerging talent, Easton went on to release five albums: one self-released, one on Plastic Viking and three on Candle Records, one of Australia’s greatest labels.
2004’s epic Two Thousand Demolition Songs gave Richard a new audience when the album spawned the classic Triple Jay single “Evil One” and cult favourite “Ballad Of Betty Cole” and was voted album of the week on radio in Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney.
Half A Cow has made available again the four albums Richard made between 1997 and 2004. His fifth album, 2007’s The Firing Range, is also available online.
