Claire Birchall’s continuing evolution as a songwriter / performer plus her commitment to DIY and sincerity over irony make her one of the most compelling and long-standing members of the Melbourne music community. From stunningly raw confessions to big-time rock to pop songs lavished with fuzzed out guitar, Casio and loops, Claire continues to find new ways to present her material to audiences.

Claire first came to the attention of Half A Cow with her four track album Captain Captain and her band The Paper Planes. Claire is extremely prolific and has released many records – solo, and with her previous band the Phantom Hitchhikers. She also plays guitar and keyboards with Kim Salmon. Her most recent album Running In Slow Motion is a DIY synth-pop album and is excellent.
