new Jon Duncan album – Week Days and Weaker Days
Jon Duncan is a singer-songwriter and poet from Electrona, Tasmania. Jon has put out nine albums through Half A Cow. The most recent is Week Days and Weaker Days, his most upbeat yet.
Week Days and Weaker Days started with the play on words of the title – a collection of songs loosely based on the days of the week. It’s a fun bunch, positive, life-affirming, definitely my most optimistic album so far on the journey. It has all the usual things I do; all the basic tracks are live, one-takes, there’s lots of ukulele, a handful of toy instruments and – Stop Press! – drums on a couple of songs!!!! Heresy I tell ya!
My good mate Kevin Griffin from Houston joins me on bass and harmony on two of the tracks and my wife JooJoo makes a couple of surprise song-bombs. There’s even a Sneeze cover thrown in for good measure, The Magnetic Fields and a raw and soulful take on “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free”.
Happy listening, friends! Remember, the weak days make the better ones even better, Xo – Jon
